The Earthtones Collection is still one of my favorite projects. The colors feel so natural and soothing to me, although it did take me nearly two years to complete the series.

The Earthones Collection includes 6 abstract pieces I’ve created over the span of almost three years. It all started in my college dorm room in 2017, with the first two paintings in the series. I wanted to paint something that represented the unique skin tones and beautiful variations we as human beings come in. The first two paintings of the Earthtones Series, the Human Race pieces, were born. This pair of 16x20 fluid paintings have been near and dear to my heart since I first made them. They have been part of my own home decor for the past two and a half years, until this summer when I unintentionally created the perfect compliment to these paintings.
In the summer of 2020, I was asked to create three complimentary pieces. After discussing at great length with the client, we decided this series should illustrate the brilliance of nature. We came up with a general color scheme, and the client let me take it from there! I am particularly fond of this collection, as you may be able to tell! These paintings are soft and cool-toned, and when I sat them in my studio alongside the first two pieces, I knew they were two parts of the same expression.
As an artist, you get a certain feeling when something you created is right. That’s the best way I can describe it— you just know. That was the feeling I got finally bringing these pieces together, as they were created from the same vein of inspiration, which was appreciating nature in all things. From the dirt below our feet to the trees around us to the mountains above, it is all beautiful and unique—and so are we! I hope the gentle and organic love nature breaths into each of us every day is translated through these works for you the way it is for me.
